During this season of giving thanks, we asked our residents, job training students, and youth to reflect on why they are thankful for City of Refuge. We hope these statements of thanks, all made possible by your generosity, inspire you!
I am so thankful for City of Refuge because…
In a short period of time, I got a great job, I got my GED, and I'm in my third semester of college.
The teachers taught me how to write my name.
They don’t treat us like less fortunate people. They treat us as equals.
The nice lunch ladies take their time to prepare our free lunches every day.
They promote a positive environment for individuals who are underemployed, homeless, or who are just a helping hand in life.
I love the summer camp leaders.
I’ve had the opportunity to receive a certification in the automotive field.
I have mentorship and self-development opportunities.
I now have a new perspective on life.
I have been nominated to represent adult literacy in Georgia by Atlanta Technical College thanks to the job training program.
I was able to do an ancestry DNA test and found my father!
I now have the peace I need to face the challenges in my world as well as those in the world of my children.
I now feel the most confident I’ve ever felt in my career path.
I have access to an unlimited amount of resources to enhance my way of life.
They take care of me and my sister.
I’ve made connections in the automotive world.
City Kids gives us time to play.
I picture myself succeeding, which gives me an enormous motivational boost.
I now plan to truly be working for one of the nation’s Fortune 500 companies. I will be there soon thanks to the resources provided by the Tech Academy.
I have received personal advice and soft skills training.
I have healed in a way I did not know I needed.
They helped me to better my mental state and self-esteem.
When I thought that I did not have a chance, they showed me otherwise.
I have a path for my life and career.
I have had the opportunity to meet great people and make new friends.
They’ve given me all sorts of tools and knowledge at my disposal.
I have fantastic instructors here in the NAPA Automotive Program.
This is an amazing organization that changes the lives of disadvantaged people.
The employees are superhuman.
They feed me good food.
